Melissa Heim Viox

Survey Specialist, NORC

Melissa Heim Viox is involved with a range of projects at NORC, including the National Children’s Study, the Perry Preschool Midlife Survey, and surveys related to Health IT. Before coming to NORC, she served with Americorps in Nashville, Tennessee, working with the Vanderbilt Center for Community Health Solutions on local and regional children’s health initiatives, where she focused on preventing childhood obesity and promoting local policy change to support healthy lifestyles.

Ms. Heim Viox earned her MPH in Maternal and Child Health from the University of Illinois at Chicago, and completed her undergraduate degree at Vanderbilt University.

When asked why she chose to serve on HealthConnect One’s Associate Board, she said, “To stay involved with community-based maternal and child health work. I’m very interested in promoting local breastfeeding efforts and supporting communities that want to implement breastfeeding and woman-empowered birth programs, so HC One was a great fit!”

As an advocate, she is strongly committed to immigrant and refugee rights, breastfeeding and nutrition. In her free time, she fosters kittens through TreeHouse Humane Society. She also loves traveling in Central and South America, a great cafe, and cooking.
