Matt is responsible for developing and executing strategies to meet HealthConnect One’s goals for fundraising, to support maternal and child health and health equity across the nation.
Matt brings almost 15 years’ experience in public health programming, fundraising, and strategic planning.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Cohen served in development roles of increasing responsibility at Sinai Health System, including the design and implementation of a multiyear Lawndale Schools Behavioral Health Program, and the $2 million Block by Block North Lawndale Diabetes Community Action Program, funded by the National Institutes of Health. Subsequently, Mr. Cohen served as Director of Development and Communications at Erie Family Health Center, where he led the multimillion-dollar fundraising initiative to open and sustain two new community health centers in Evanston/Skokie and Waukegan. Most recently, he was Director of Development and Communications at Healthcare Alternative Systems, where he worked in partnership with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors to build and maintain a growth strategy supported by foundation and corporate relationships, individual giving, and direct and B2B marketing.
Matt is pursuing his Certified Fund Raising Executive credential as a demonstration of his fundraising practice. He attended medical school at Rush University Medical Center. He completed his Master’s Degree in Biochemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and holds two B.S. degrees from the Honors Program at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in Chemistry and Cell & Molecular Biology.
Matt lives with his wife and 3 children in Chicago, and when not serving as family cheerleader, soccer coach, and human jungle gym, he enjoys Bikram yoga, biking, and card games with family and friends.
