RoiAnn Phillips

Communications Director

RoiAnn approaches communications with a dual passion for social justice and a good story. After managing HC One’s website, eNews, print and social media communications for eight years as a team of one, she is delighted to play a more strategic role in amplifying the voices of HC One’s community partners, and showing the impact of HC One’s values in practice.

Prior to her role in communications, she co-coordinated the national Birth, Breastfeeding and Beyond Conference, and acted as Project Coordinator for HC One’s Message and Messenger Project to increase the donation of umbilical cord blood among low-income minority families.  In 2011, she gained media attention from WBEZ for the Illinois Breastfeeding Blueprint, and was recognized by Public Narrative for this effort. She has also been published and profiled on the Nonprofit MarCommunity blog.

RoiAnn brings to HC One over twenty years of non-profit experience.  Her past roles include Outreach Associate for Lambda Legal, Program Associate for Zonta International, and a brief and delightful stint as a “stay-at-home” mom.  She is also a performance poet and family blogger.
