HC One Hiring Development Associate

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Development Director, the Development Associate supports the Development Director and other team members in securing multi-revenue streams to support HealthConnect One’s (HC One’s) mission. The Development Associate manages donor data, including mailing lists, donation processing, acknowledgment letters and emails, optimizes the use of the agency database, and enhances relationships with individual, corporate and foundation donors.

Duties include event planning, assisting with marketing, social media and other outreach strategies, drafting proposals, managing the development calendar, and researching and identifying funding opportunities. The ideal candidate possesses excellent networking and communication skills, exceptional problem solving and time management abilities, and the ability to enhance efficiency of development functions.

The successful candidate will be a strong problem-solver, be detail-oriented with above-average organizational and project management skills and maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities. They and will work well within a team environment as well as be self-motivated to work from home with little supervision.

The Development Associate must be creative and enjoy working within a small, entrepreneurial environment that is mission-driven, results-driven, and community-centered. Dedication to anti-racism and maternal child health (MCH) equity a must, though a background in MCH is not required.

Detailed Description of Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Drafts and edits various documents including internal/external correspondence.
  • Communicates and coordinates with outside parties including corporations, non-profit organizations, foundations, sub-grant recipients, state funding sources and individual donors.
  • Demonstrates an ability to interact with persons of all backgrounds, cultures and affiliations within all levels of government, business, non-profit organizations, or communities at both a formal and informal level.
  • Creates and maintains development management tools and protocols in both Asana and EveryAction.
  • Communicates with staff to ensure that foundation deliverables are met; tracks organizational outputs for reports and communications.
  • Maintains process and documentation for request, tracking, and approving changes to project scope, deliverables, and/or timeline by leadership.
  • Coordinates, builds, and ensures fundraising and ambassador roles of Associate Board.
  • Engages in grant prospecting, writing, management, and reporting.
  • Assists with the development of appeals and campaigns (copy and/or design).
  • Creates case statements and project templates for use in fundraising.
  • Assists in strategies for new donor acquisition.
  • Manages of the contact management system, EveryAction.
  • Completes thank you letters, donor emails, and other donor communications.
  • Assists with event planning and execution.
  • Assists strategy, copy and graphics of fundraising marketing, communications, and social media using design and email marketing software.
  • Learns and stays abreast of trends and news in maternal child health, birth equity, and nonprofit fundraising.
  • Will engage an extensive organizing, updating, cleaning, and launching HC One’s contact management system, including organizing the development donor data, mailing and email lists, and program and communications contact data, as well as launching the email, donor landing page, advocacy alert, and grant management features. The Intern will work together with the Development Director and Executive Director in determining system structure, and with other staff, as needed.

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited college or university or 5+ years experience in field.
  • Experience in a fundraising, communications, executive assistant, nonprofit business development, or similar role, 1 – 3+ years.
  • Knowledge of Asana, Salsa/Every Action/Salesforce, Canva, Adobe Creative, Mailchimp preferred. Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, project management software, and database management required.
  • Project management experience.
  • Excellent research, planning, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Strong customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities while adhering to deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise mature professional judgment, and use discretion.
  • Comfortable in a team-oriented environment based on open, transparent, continual communication, information sharing and inclusive decision-making.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 – $45,000.00 per year
